    The decisive role held by knowledge in all domains of economic activity through the impact exerted upon the functionality and performance of the organization, asks for the promotion of the management based upon knowledge. The characteristics of the management based upon knowledge show its increased complexity and the significant role of the human factor in creating, implementing and exerting it efficiently.knowledge, information, management based upon knowledge, a learning organization, culture of knowledge.

    Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges in Nonparasitic Liver Cysts

    Nonparasitic hepatic cysts constitute a heterogeneous group of disorders. A proper diagnosis of hepatic cyst is necessary in order to adopt the best treatment. The term hepatic cyst usually refers to simple hepatic cysts. Nonparasitic hepatic cysts are also linked to genetic disorders such as polycystic liver disease (PLD) with/without autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) or Caroli disease. Generally, patients with nonparasitic hepatic cysts less than 3 cm are asymptomatic. These cysts become symptomatic when are large, multiple, or complicated. Percutaneous abdominal ultrasound is the best imaging modality to diagnose hepatic cysts but must be completed by other imaging and serological tests. It is important to differentiate simple hepatic cyst from hydatid cyst, cystadenoma, and cystadenocarcinoma before proceeding with the treatment. Sometimes the diagnosis is very challenging. Asymptomatic single liver cysts need only surveillance, but symptomatic and complicated ones require therapeutic intervention. Percutaneous aspiration of the cyst under ultrasound guidance is a mini-invasive procedure generally associated with sclerotherapy. The highest success rates were reported for laparoscopic or open cyst fenestration. Liver transplantation is indicated for patients with severe PLD

    Challenging Issues in Hepatic Adenoma

    Get PDF
    Hepatic adenoma is known as a benign lesion encountered mainly in female patients and classically linked to the administration of oral contraceptives. In the last decade, the risk factors for its occurrence have changed and so did the sex ratio. The histopathological classification of hepatic adenomas was found to be related with certain genetic mutations that determine the risk for malignancy. The diagnosis of hepatic tumor is correlated with clinical and imaging data in an effort not only to rule out other tumors but also to distinguish the subtype of adenoma, which is very important for the management of the patient. The ultimate diagnosis is established by pathologists by routine histopathological and specific immunohistochemical staining. There are two major issues that pathologists need to recognize: the presence of β-catenin gene mutation and/or malignant degeneration. The best imaging examination is considered to be MRI. However, along with MRI, ultrasound and computer tomography have proved themselves to be effective not only in evaluating the number, size, localization, and complications of hepatic adenomas, but also in identifying their subtype. A detailed presentation of characteristics of all groups of hepatic adenoma is provided. The means of management of hepatic adenomas are documented and decisional algorithm is explained, based on certain criteria

    The behaviour pattern of several gastrointestinal nematode genera in sheep and cattle from bethausen, Timis County

    Parasitic infestations are one of the most important causes for animal disease and low productivity worldwide. Gastrointestinal nematodes (i.e. Trichostrongylus, ) as well as trematodes (i.e. Fasciola spp. Paramphistomum spp.), cestodes (i.e. Echinococcus spp.) and protozoa (i.e. Eimeria spp.) are all in the category of most important parasitic diseases. Studies were conducted on cattle and sheep from Bethausen village, Timis County. In cattle, the following genera were identified : Trichostrongylus, Cooperia and Ostertagia while in sheep the Trichostrongylus, Ostertagia, Chabertia, Oesophagostomum and Haemonchus genera were noticed. The present study was based on following the dynamics of the output of parasitic elements from the April 2015 until March 2016. The best represented genus was Trichostrongylus both in cattle and sheep with a prevalence of 40%, followed by Chabertia – 33%, Ostertagia – 30%, Haemonchus – 26% and Cooperia – 15%. The maximum EPG was achieved in October and the minimum EPG was achieved in the months of January and February

    Molecular identification of trichostrongylus axei on European brown hare (Lepus Europaeus) in Western Romania - case report

    Get PDF
    Trichostrongylosis is a cosmopolitan parasitic disease affecting domestic and wild ruminants, equines, and last but not least, leporids. Three species of strongyles commonly parasitize the digestive tracts of leporids, the most prevalent being Trichostrongylus retortaeformis. This paper describes the first case of Trichostrongylus axei infestation in a wild hare in western Romania. A female wild hare carcass found in Timis County was examined at the Parasiology Department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Timisoara. A clinical, post-mortem and PCR examination was performed to establish a diagnosis, with molecular analysis confirming the presence of the nematode Trichostrongylus axei in European brown hare

    An Overview of Systems Development

    The core activities in systems development are system analysis, system design, programming, testing, conversion, and production and maintenance. Systems analysis is the study and analysis of problems of existing systems and the identification of requirements for their Figure 1. The systems development process solution. Requirements must consider economic, technical, and temporal constraints, as well as the goals, procedures, and decision processes of the organization. There are various systems-building alternatives: the traditional systems life cycle, prototyping, application software packages, end-user development, and outsourcing.systems development, users,data planning and modeling methodology,database technology and management, data administration;

    Factors which Generate the Peculiarities of the Management in Insurances

    This article presents some considerations concerning the management in insurances. There are presented peculiarities of the management in insurances, making the difference between the compulsory insurances and the optional insurances. There are pointed the organizational measures taken by insurance companies, stressing the random nature of the damages, the specific types of insurances such as goods, persons, third-party liability. There are mentioned: the conditions which the manager has to fulfil, the means by which he can avoid the bankruptcy of the company, those modalities which permit to obtain profits for the company, the investment on the money market of those funds which are not immediately necessary for paying the damages towards the insured, the constitution of a solvency margin, meaning redundancy included in tangible assets which have to be maintained permanently. There are distinguished factors which generate the specific of the management in insurances, being insisted over the juridical form of the insurance thru the effect of the law or optional.damages, insurances, insured, insurer, investments, management, risks, solvency margin

    Knowledge Based Economy - The Basis for Insuring a Sustainable Development

    At present, at global level, is more and more visible the fact that the information and knowledge exercise a decisive impact over the functionality and performance of organizations, assuring the sustainability of the economy on long term. Switching to economy based on knowledge is an inevitable process, particularly complex and difficult, that generates for organizations many opportunities and creates, in the same time, an ideal framework for sustainable development. Building the economy based on knowledge, ensuring premises for an accelerated and sustainable growth of the economy, simultaneously with strengthening social cohesion and increasing concerns for environmental protection, is an important strategic objective of European Union. Following, the sustainable development must be addressed as a "responsibility of present to secure the future", the knowledge-based economy forms the basis to achieve this desideratum.sustainable development, performance, knowledge, knowledge-based economy, based on specialist knowledge, intellectual capital
